LVFC Summer Air Rally 2026
Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?
All Active and Sustaining Members of LVFC are welcome.
Sustaining Members can participate by flying as passengers with Active Members or by flying in privately owned aircraft. This is one of the best ways for Sustaining Members to get involved in the Rally.
Do flights have to be in club aircraft?
No. Flights may be completed in club aircraft or privately owned aircraft.
The Rally is about participation, adventure, and club spirit — not aircraft ownership.
Do instructional flights count?
Yes. Instructional flights qualify, and both the CFI and the student may earn points. Club CFIs are members just like any other participant.
How are points earned?
Points are earned by landing at designated Rally airports and by completing Bonus Missions.
Each airport may be credited once per participant, but multiple members may earn points for the same airport.

Can two members earn full points on the same flight?
Yes. When two qualifying members are aboard, both earn full points for each eligible airport landing.
Both members also earn the +2 member participation bonus.
Only two members per flight may earn points.

Can I visit multiple Rally airports on the same day?
Yes. You may earn points for multiple Rally airports on the same flight or day.
Members are expected to make safe aviation decisions at all times.

What is the category completion bonus?
Each category contains five airports.
If you land at all five airports in a category, you earn an additional:
+25 bonus points
This bonus may be earned for multiple categories.
What are Bonus Missions?
Bonus Missions are additional adventure-based challenges worth 10 points each.
They may be completed at any airport unless otherwise specified.
Some missions may have multiple winners. In the event of a tie, all tied participants receive the points.
Additional missions may be announced during the Rally.
Is this a race?
No. This is not a race and there are no rewards for completing destinations first.
The Rally is about safe flying, great experiences, and club participation.
How does the raffle work?
Every point earned becomes one raffle entry.
This means:
Everyone has a chance to win
More flying increases your odds
Once a participant wins a raffle prize, they are removed from further raffle drawings.
However, they remain eligible for judged awards.

What is the Rally Champion?
The participant with the highest total points will be recognized as the LVFC Summer Air Rally Champion and receive a commemorative trophy.
What are the judged awards?
Separate awards will be given for items such as:
Best Photo
Best Video
Best Story
Club Spirit
Humor & Creativity
Additional judged categories may be introduced during the Rally.
Participants may win multiple judged awards.

What are the entry bonuses?
Early entry earns bonus points:
Enter by May 1 → 5 points
Enter by June 1 → 2 points
Enter by July 1 → 1 point
Entries after July 1 receive no entry bonus
Only flights completed after entry will count.

When does the Rally end?
All flights must be completed by midnight on Labor Day.
Final submissions are due the Sunday following Labor Day.
Is this a fundraiser?
No. The club is sponsoring the initial prize pool.
Entry fees are used to expand the available prizes.

How are flights tracked?
Flights are submitted through the official Rally form.
Verification may include:
Photo at destination
ForeFlight track log
FlightAware track
The Rally operates primarily on the honor system.

What is the spirit of the Rally?
This is intended to be a fun, friendly competition focused on flying and shared experiences.
Members should not look for loopholes or technicalities in an attempt to gain advantage.
If interpretation is required, the Rally judges panel will determine intent.
All decisions by the judges are final.
